Pricipal Research Scientist Lan Zhang

Nanyang Technological University, Singapore

Biography:

Dr. Zhang Lan earned her Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Shandong University in 2007. She joined the fuel cell team in the School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) at Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore, as a researcher, focusing on developing sulfur-resistant, nickel-free electrode materials for solid oxide fuel cells. In 2010, she transitioned to the Energy Research Institute at NTU (ERIAN), where she contributed to projects on High-Temperature Proton Exchange Membrane Fuel Cells (HT-PEMFC) and on-site hydrogen generation. She was promoted to Senior Scientist in August 2015 and Principal Research Scientist in August 2021. Dr. Zhang has published over 65 articles in internationally renowned journals, with an H-index of 27. She holds four granted U.S. patents, with six more pending, in addition to six granted Chinese patents (with six more pending) and two granted Singapore patents (with six more pending). Several of these patents have been licensed to four companies for commercial use. Dr. Zhang's research primarily focuses on advancing self-supported metal oxide-based catalysts for methane and ammonia cracking, contributing to efficient hydrogen production and carbon-neutral energy solutions. Additionally, she is actively engaged in the application of nanocarbon materials, exploring their potential in catalysis, energy storage, and environmental sustainability. Her broader research expertise spans solid oxide fuel cells, high-temperature proton exchange membrane fuel cells, flue gas purification, and on-site hydrogen generation.
